Hurricane Gustav
I think it is now safe to save that Gustav will not be crashing into us! What a relief!
i picked a costume for tucker
I know the fisherman costume was so adorable but yesterday I was in babies r us and I came across this costume. It was actually hanging out in the very front so I couldn't miss it. There was only 1 and it was in his size. It was meant to be. I had to get it. I'm glad I did b/c he is soooooooooooooo cute in it! He's going to be a fireman!
norm macdonald
Last night Lonnie and I went to see Norm Macdonald at the Houston Improv. He's the guy that use to be on Saturday Night Live and he's done tons of movie, mainly with Adam Sandler. Before the show he came out and was walking around in the lobby. We were standing at the bar and when I turned around he was right there talking to a few people shaking hands and taking some pics. You have to know who Norm is to understand this, but his personality on tv is just like it is in person. He moves around very slow and has this weird voice. Lonnie wanted a picture with him but was soooooooooo embarrassed and didn't have the nerve to go up to him. So I talked him into it. Oh my gosh it was too funny. Lonnie said he had soft hands and a weird handshake. I captured this picture on my phone. It's not good at all b/c it was pitch dark, but you get the point. The show was great!!!! He just mumbled about whatever he felt like talking about. He didn't have notes or script to follow at all. He'd ask peopled what they wanted to talk about and then that's what he talked about.

passed out cold...at 10am
Last night when Lonnie got home from work Shelby was wide awake and it was 2:30am. She apparently hadn't fallen asleep at all. This morning I had to go wake her up at 10am! This is her passed out cold! She sleeps like her daddy. LOL

a costume for tucker
I need to come up with a halloween costume for Tucker. Sure, most of you are thinking it's way too early to do this, but I've learned my lesson that if you don't have a costume by mid Sept, there's no getting a good one in the size you need. Here are a few that I've come across that won't be too hot. Tucker won't wear anything on his head, so none of the hates or masks would be worn. Do you like any of these?

halloween costume arrived
Last week the Hannah Montana costume I ordered Shelby arrived. Hmm, I don't know how we're going to pull this off. The costume is so cheaply made. That's what I get for trying to save time and my sanity by ordering it online. Oh well. I'm going to have to get the costume altered. The skirt is suppose to sit above the knee (see pic from last week down below). But on Shelby, who is tall so I'm really surprised, it hangs mid calf. There's no returning it b/c they are now out of all sizes and their return policy is stupid. I'm sure it's capable of being altered, but it's going to be a pain taking her some place and getting her to try it on and get pinned. Maybe my mom can alter it. I'll have to have Shelby try it on for her this week so we can see.

gustav

No, I'm not freaking out yet. Just b/c the Houston Chronicle is predicting a category 5 to slam into the Texas gulf coast doesn't mean that's going to happen......RIGHT???
Dove
Have you seen this commercial? Whoa!
Update: They removed the video so in order to see if click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=321Kb8pBu5s
playing monster
Shelby decided that we needed to play monster. She even created this headpiece to wear and said the pen sticking out was her horn. Here are some pics that I captured along with a video of me hiding behind the laundry room door when I jumped out to scare her. (No comments on my messy house!)

what's this mama?
So today I picked the kids up from my mom's and I had some mail on the floor board. Shelby picked up this one piece of mail and kept asking what it was. Mom was a lot of help trying not to laugh saying, "yeah mom, what is it?" Thanks for the help mom!!! It was a sample of tampons from walmart. I am not ready to explain that to a 4 y/o. She's already asked me for a littlest pet shop bra. What do I say, when you need these is when you'll get the bra????
shelby and the elliptical
Last summer I borrowed Amber's elliptical but in March I joined 24 hour fitness so the elliptical just sits in my bedroom collecting dust. I really need to take it back. (Amber, the next weekend Lonnie is off and nobody has cooties to contaminate the triplets we'll be bringing it back!) Well, now Shelby has realized how to work it so she's been "exercising".

a day with the mosquitos
It rained all this past week and the mosquitos are AWFUL!!! I don't know if it's typical for all kids or if it's an allergic reaction, but both Tucker and Shelby get these huge spots all over them. They are bigger than when Tucker was stung by the wasp last month! Anyway, I took the kids to the park after church today for a picnic. I covered us in mosquito spray but it really didn't do any good. We still managed to get about 20 bites. We would have left in 10 minutes of getting there but Shelby made some friends so we toughed it out for about 1.5 hours. Poor kids are smothered in benadryl now.
It was extremely muddy out there and there was this little 3 y/o girl who had stripped off her clothes except her pull up and was literally running and slidding in the mud as if she was on a slip and slide. Thank goodness Tucker was too busy pouring rocks down a slide that he didn't see how much fun she was having! LOL

Palm Beach
I took the kids with Sarah and her kids to Palm Beach @ the Moody Gardens Friday. That is such a great place for toddlers. I think next summer I will need to get us a season pass. They have mini waterslides perfect for their size and several lagoons and beaches. They were so pooped that they both slept for 3 hours once we got home! These aren't the best images but they'll have to do. I forgot my camera so these were off my phone.

the little gym birthday party
Last Saturday was baby Kate's 2nd birthday party at The Little Gym. I guess we can't call her "baby" Kate anymore. Just Kate. It was a great party and the kids had a blast. Tucker ran across the balance beam, yes RAN, and then would jump off. How can this shy kid be such a dare devil???

headbands
I ordered these off of Etsy today. I'm so addicted to Etsy but have refrained from shopping. I couldn't pass these up though. Shelby is into wearing headbands right now since she's attempting to grow out her bangs. I found these and thought they were too cute and she would love them! I can't wait until the arrive.

counting
I posted a few days back that Tucker can count to 9. Well, here's the proof. Well, sorta. He got distracted in the middle so we started over. And then he skipped 6 but he made it to 11. How cute is this!!! Oh, and notice his fresh new haircut.

halloween costume
Shelby has decided that she wants to be Hannah Montana for Halloween. I was pressing for Tinkerbell since that's what she said originally what she wanted to be. Oh well. We could make the "costume" ourselves, but I'm just not that creative and when it's going to cost the same just to buy the premade costume, that's the route we'll take. She was looking at some options and LOVED this one. She is too excited. So I ordered the costume last week and she's looked on the porch everyday to see if it's here yet. Payless was having their BOGO sale this weekend so I went ahead and got her the boots. Now I just need to get a wig. She had one but it's so tangled up that it's not even worth fighting to fix it. I think I can get a wig for $10.

I'm legal again!
I'm only 7 months late but I failed the eye exam so I had to go get glasses before they would give me a drivers license. So now I'm legal to drive and my parents can get off my case about it! :-)

diaper steal
I have to share my diaper steal of a deal for those that buy diapers. At the front of Walgreens they have an easy saver coupon book and inside there's a coupon for $5 off if you buy their brand of diapers. I've never used their diapers before but I needed to buy some diapers and $5 is a pretty good coupon. Well then when I went to pick up the diapers they had a sign that said buy 1 get 1 50% off. So I bought 2 jumbo packages of diapers and after their discount and coupon I paid a grand total of $7.52. I sure hope these diapers work. If they do I'm hitting up all the walgreens in town! LOL The coupon actually expired 7/26 but since they are still in the store I was able to use it.

Midweek Progress Report
Some of the things happening this week....
1 - Tucker counted to 9! NINE!!!! Mom called and told me that he counted to 9 as they were climbing the stairs at gymnastics he'd count each stair up to 9. I was excited so when I got home we tried it out on our stairs wondering if he'd do the same thing, AND HE DID!!
2 - Shelby chose to watch HGTV last night instead of a movie when going to bed. HGTV???? Hmmm, is this a possible projected career path?
3 - Stupid Jon&Kate+8 has convinced Shelby now that she "needs" a hermit crab with a painted shell. Ewww....NO! 2 cats and a dog is plenty enough.
4 - Shelby is reading! Well, level 1 books, but hey! She's only 4. I'm so proud. I'm glad she loves books. I have never been a fan of reading unless it's a gossip magazine or on the internet. We've been making it a habit at night now that I read 1 book and then she reads 1. It makes the bedtime routine soooooo much longer, but so worth it.
5 - Tucker has now mastered the stairs. This still scares the heck out of me, but he's in hog heaven going up and down whenever he wants. As soon as we get home he runs straight up to Shelby's room. It's like a toy store for him!
6 - Shelby asked me last night if I would buy her a littlest pet shop bra. Uh, no.

galveston flight museum
Sunday we took the kids to the Galveston flight museum. Lonnie had never been before which I was really shocked by b/c it's so close to home and he grew up in this area. We knew it would be boring for Shelby but we figured Tucker would love it since he loves planes, trains and automobiles. I think he shouted airplane about a 1000 times while we were there. He got bored after a while b/c he was upset he couldn't get IN the planes. I swear I thought years ago they use to have a few planes open to tour but they didn't this time. Here are some snapshots that I took of cute father son moments.

conversations with shelby
You know, I thought, wow, the age of 4 is way better than the age of 3. We don't have meltdowns every 5 minutes. We do have a drama queen sassy pants on our hands, but it's still easier than the age of 3. Well, so I thought. This is apparently the age where "topics" come up. Let's see, yesterday she asked when she's going to be getting fur. Fur? Yes, fur. Think about it b/c I'm not going to elaborate. Then she asked me if girl fish have babies. Then tonight we ran by my parents house to bring dinner and my aunt and uncle were over. Shelby brought in her high bounce bouncy ball and said "look at my sexy marble". Sexy??? Where did you come up with that word? A few days ago she was asking when she was going to get a bra. Oh dear! Lonnie is blaming Hannah Montana for this. LOL

incredible pizza
Today we took the kids to Incredible Pizza. I tried to convince Shelby that she wanted to go somewhere else, but she wouldn't cave. How sad is it that I prefer Chuck E Cheese to this place. Incredible Pizza does have more stuff for them to do, but this place is full of punk kids...and A LOT of punk kids. When we left there were about 8 pasadena cops taking care of a situation. Oh well, they had a great time and that's all that matters.

future golf stars?
Lonnie can't wait for the day he can take the kids to the golf course and play a game with them! What age did Tiger Woods start? I think I read it was he was 11 months old when he took his first swing. So we may be a little late, but hopefully starting this young they still may end up on the PGA tour with a few endorsements. LOL

ahhh, how sweet is this moment?
Ahhhh, how sweet is this moment? Shelby's trying to show Tucker how she plays the V-smile. He's so excited there's a choo choo on the tv. They look so cozy in our bed.
