girl scout rally day

This morning we went to something Shelby's been looking forward to for weeks....girl scout rally day. She is now officially assigned up and is a Daisy. Her first meeting will be in October. She can't wait!

First day of school - update

Yesterday when Shelby went to school she was soooooooo excited. She was up before her alarm even went off. But at 3:30 when I picked her up, her whole attitude had changed. She said it was boring. I'm a little concerned about her class. Not her teacher though. The way Shelby made it out, was that there were some issues with kids who needed the teacher's attention all day. I still have no information on this GT program. Her "class" is not GT. There's only a handful of GT kids who have been placed between 2 GT teachers. But in the class, they have a lot of non GT kids. Apparently the GT kids will be pulled out daily. I'm just so unsure of all this. I feel totally lost.

1st grade

It's the first day of 1st grade for my superstar!

End of summer...

Summer is coming to an end and we are sooooo ready for cooler temps. We have seriously got every penny, and then some, out of the waterslide this summer. It's currently 5:54 as I write this and still about 100* out. Ugh!!!

one tough weekend

This was one tough weekend. I don't think we will be doing 3 birthday parties in one weekend again during the summer time. Please remind me of that next summer since this summer is coming to an end soon. The 108-110 heat index was sickening. It made Shelby miserable which made me miserable which made Tucker insane. When Shelby is in a mood....she's in a mood. And Tucker I swear has got to have hearing issues even though the pediatrician says he doesn't. I swear that boy is in lala land marching to his own drum. In other news, I finished painting the living and dining rooms this weekend, with my mom's help.

Birthday Party Marathon

We have 3 birthday parties to attend to this weekend. THREE! Lonnie has to work all weekend so I will be playing chauffer again. This time both kids will be attending all 3 parties. Wish ME luck! LOL

It's almost that time....

Shelby starts 1st grade in a little over a week. FIRST GRADE!!!! I remember my 1st grade teacher. Mrs. Rader. I LOVED her! And what's so cool is that I still see Mrs. Rader from time to time and she mall walks with my mom! I hope Shelby loves her 1st grade teacher too. Class rosters go up Monday and we will have "meet the teacher" night next Thursday, but since Shelby will be in GT, there are only 2 teachers for that and they team teach, so I know basically who she will have, but not sure which one will be considered her "home room" teacher. Either way, I've heard wonderful things about both of them.

Growing up I remember I loved school supply shopping. Shelby loves it just as much. Finding the colorful pencils and notebooks and folders and school boxes. The toughest part this year was finding a cool mesh backpack and an icarly lunch kit. I think all the kids will have icarly lunch kits b/c I had to go to 5 stores before finding one that wasn't sold out. And the backpack I ordered off of ebay and spent way too much. But when you have a plane blah standardized dress uniform, you have to accessorize! LOL Shelby of course picked it out. It's black with hot pink and teal stars and hearts all over it. Backpacks have to be mesh or clear in our district. So not cool.

Christmas in August

I've been on a clean sweep mission at the house and recently purged over 50% of Tucker's room. I also bought some racetrack flag contact paper and covered up the train table top since it was nasty and peeling up. We have 2 train tables, but now one will be the race track table. :-)


In the process of pulling out toys, Tucker found his racetrack and marble tower that he got last Christmas. He was sooooooo excited. He had totally forgotten about these even though they had been sitting right in front of his closet.
Next will be Shelby's room, I just don't know when I'll have time to get to that since I've also got a house painting project going. I told the kids if the zhu zhu pets don't get played with by the time Sarah comes back for Christmas, I'm sending them home with her b/c I know Lauren will love them!

Bday Party

This weekend was a little girl's bday party in Tucker's daycamp class. I took a break from painting and took Tucker while Shelby hung out with my mom for a bit. I try not to bring them to other kids bday parties unless they've both been invited, or it's at a place where they don't pay per person. This party you pay per kid (jump n jungle - our fave!), so I just brought Tucker. It was a very small party which was great b/c there was plenty of room for the little kids to run around like crazy monkeys!

Painting

I'm on a mission to paint the house. Of course the kids are in the way slowing me down but near as much as Baxter is. He can't seem to stay out of the paint. Plus he keeps pulling down all my liners over the bathtub like it's a game! Grrrrrrr......

Princess Par-Tea

I'm back dating here. We went to a bday party 2 weekends ago. Remember the 2 parties in 4 hours post? Anyway, we went to this place called Par-tea Girls in Pearland. This place was so darn cute. Cute cute cute!!!! (Theresa - I swear this would be such a cute place for Madeleine's bday when y'all come back!) They have fairy, princess, beauty, and rock star themes. Shelby was the oldest of the group but she didn't mind. She's outgrown the fairy era but she's seriously considering wanting her 7th bday party here with either the beauty spa party or diva rock star party.

Saturday

Saturday we had a jam packed day. I REALLY need a new camera. So until then, you get low quality pics. :-( So Saturday morning I attempted to make french toast. Total fail. I need to work on that. But the peanut butter cookies I made with MY OWN recipe turned out FABULOUS. Those were gone in a jiffy so no pics there.

While Lonnie played cop for the day, I took the kids to see Cats and Dogs - Revenge of Kitty Galore. Oh good Lord was that movie so dumb. I begged the kids to ditch it but they wouldn't budge.

Then we went to Jump N Jungle for open play. My friend Lindsey and her kids were there so I got to visit them and some of Shelby's little friends from school were there. So there were lots of kids to play with.

So then after that we went home and got the kids changed into their swimsuits and headed next door to Julie's house for a cookout with her family and friends. We were over there for 4.5 hours. The kids had way too much fun. They passed out cold when we got home and didn't wake up until 9:30am!
