Bad Day Monday

Was it a full moon yesterday? Both kids had rotten days.

Shelby, who NEVER gets her clip moved, got her clip moved and even ended up speaking to assistant principal. Something about signing a petition about reading certain books. She didn't even know what she was doing. She did it because everyone else did it. UGH!!!!

Tucker was on pink. Pink is not for a pretty color. Pink is so far down the behavior stick it's suppose to warrant a phone call home. Nobody called. And that's fine. It's not like he's getting in trouble for fighting or using bad language. It's just because he talks. TALKS NON STOP. I can't blame him! He's got a lot to say! LOL But still, that means no XBOX for the night.

Scout Sunday 2014

Yesterday day was Scout Sunday at church. Shelby and Lottie read the prayers. Ethan and Ellie brought up the elements. The rest of the kids were greeters and passed out bulletins before church. Rev. Stacy did a really nice prayer for all the scouts and handed out Scout Sunday patches to all the kids.

Quitting Dance

My emotions are running crazy high right now. I will calm down by tomorrow but won't change my mind. I'm emailing the director and coach tomorrow to tell them Shelby won't be coming back.

Good news - Shelby's dance won best in her category.

Bad news - I walked up on teammates saying very mean things to Shelby and she was fighting back tears.

I'm fed up with this. I took Shelby's hand and we just left. Didn't stay for team photos or anything. We just left. As soon as we got to the car I found out that these girls had been saying crap to her at practices for weeks. No wonder she had been begging to quit. I kept telling her she couldn't quit because she made a commitment to the team for the season. But now I understand. And heck yes she can quit. I'm not paying hundreds of dollars a month for my child to be treated like crap from dancers who aren't even good! (They are bullies! That's free in the public school system! I don't need to be PAYING money for her to experience it!! Ha!!) She isn't having fun at all and that's all I wanted for her!

So that's it. We are done.

Seriously?????

It's finally awards time. There's a mom from dance dynamics waving a big L with her hand yelling losers at other teams. See what I mean?????

Dance competition - crowd pleasers

Today we are at dance competition "crowd pleasers". Shelby and I have been here since 9am. It's almost 9pm. Awards aren't for another hour or so. I wish I could say I love coming to dance competitions but I don't. It sucks. Sitting in miserable bleachers. Listening to crazy dance moms. Listening to catty bratty dance girls. One thing I do love is watching the high school girls dance. They are AMAZING. But everything else sucks. Shelby attends a dance studio where all the kids go to a different school, together. None of them let Shelby in to their posse. So instead of hanging out with friends in between dances like all the other kids, she sits with me. In the miserable bleachers. Hopefully the next hour, or two, will pass by quickly.

Last Practice of the Season

Tonight was Shelby's last practice of the winter season. She's going to miss the last game Saturday since she has a dance competition. She's signed up for spring ball and that'll start when we get back from spring break.

Goodwill

This is what happens when I take the kids to goodwill to scour for ski pants and snow boots. Shelby convinces Tucker what a great idea it would be to race around the store acting crazy.

School Valentine Treats

I'm pretty sure this will be the last year I will be making class party treats for Shelby's class. Something tells me in 5th grade middle school that having your mom pack 25 goodie bags for your friends just isn't the cool thing to do anymore. I think that's where the kids order carnations and suckers and send them anonymously to their secret crush.

Tucker on the other hand could care less as long as he gets one of those finger flying hearts to launch all over the classroom and hit people on the head with it. He also made sure to tell me none of his valentines could say anything about love. He doesn't want to give anyone the wrong impression. Hahahahaha!!!

GT Showcase

Last night was GT showcase. Shelby's GT class were characters that walked around and delivered speeches about their character and then they were critiqued. Shelby's character was Lady Bird Johnson. I think the project was by far her easiest GT project of the past 4 years. Well, easiest for me. Shelby had to do all the research on her own and Mimi had the costume material at her house already. Win win for me! Of course that quickly changed as soon as we got home at 8pm and found Tucker had a week's worth of homework and a project due today. This is what happens when he doesn't bring home his homework folder daily. The only thing he wanted to do was go to bed. Not gonna happen buddy! So needless to say he was quite the crabby patty this morning waking up.

No longer a private blog.

After thinking about it for quite some time, I've decided to no longer keep my blog as a private board anymore. The main reason for going private when I did, no longer matters anymore, as it turns out, it was never kept private the way I had intended.

My blog is my "baby book" per se. I don't physically write things down in a book. I have this blog. It's 99% all about them. So at the end of every year, I print up all the posts and photos and keep them on a cd. So when Shelby is 38 and has kids turning her hair gray, I can say, lookey here! Read em and weap! Hahahahahaha!

The Blevins' family is going through a major transformation. For those that aren't close by and know what's going on, Lonnie and I are getting divorced. He lives out of town and the kids are with me. We are doing everything we can to make this transition as easy as possible on the kids. I have THE BEST family and friends which have made this craptaculiar event more of a "re-birth-day" for me.

I fully expect 2014 to be an amazing year. 2013 could only be crummy since it had 13 in it. LOL

Something I've learned over the past few months...friends and family are everything to me. I've always said that, but I think more now then ever, I honestly believe and feel that 100000%. They have supported me through all the good, bad and ugly. When I'm a mess, they clean me up. When I'm falling over, they lean me back up. When I get down on my faith, they pray for me. When I feel weak, they remind me how strong I am. I will never be able to thank y'all enough, but I promise you I will always be there the way you each have been for me.

Winter Volleyball Team Photo

Here's Shelby's winter team volleyball photo from this season. No clue what she's laughing at but it shows you how much this girl loves volleyball. Time to sign her up for Spring volleyball this week. I'm just waiting on Tucker to decide if he wants to play soccer or flag football this season so I can work on figuring out their practice and game schedules.

Shelby's 10th Birthday!

Shelby wanted a rainbow loom themed birthday party this year for her slumber party. I always try and have plenty of activities on hand so there is little down time until it's time to crash for a movie late at night. Apparently I think if they are so tired from all the activities, they might actually sleep. No. That is not true. Shelby was asleep before midnight. Anna was asleep by 1am. Jayden was asleep by 4:30am. The rest of the girls finally fell asleep at 6:30am. I read an entire book overnight. The girls this year were playing pranks on those asleep and then had a freak out scream-a-thon after scaring each other doing "bloody mary" in the bathroom with the lights off.

So the first activity we did was we made lip gloss out of vasaline and kool-aid mix.

Then of course they had to play Just Dance 2014 because how do you not come to Shelby's house and NOT play Just Dance????

Each girl was parterned up with another girl and assigned a color and then we played Rainbow Relays. The first game was to dress your partner up in their assigned color with the items provided. First team finished wins.

Next was the crepe roll. Similar to the halloween mummy wrap game. Crepe paper is MUCH better to use then toilet paper. The first person wrapped in the entire crepe roll wins.

The next game was more for my benefit. I dumped over 1,000 mixed rubber bands and each team had to pull 100 of their assigned color and put in ziplock bag. The first to 100 wins. This wasn't as easy as they thought. We actually counted the rubber bands in the bag and only ONE team got 100 rubberbands. The rest had either under or over 100. It had to be exact. And that was the last team who got it. Slow and steady won the race on that one. LOL

Next was the suck it up relay. I dumped skittles in front of each girl and they had to suck up 10 of their assigned team color with a straw into their partners cup. First to finish wins.

The next game was a mold the rainbow game. None of those photos came out well. But they had to create a rainbow with playdough and it had to be in ROYGBIV order without me telling them. They had to use their 1st grade knowledge on this one. And the ONLY team that won was the team that was our youngens, which were Lauren 1st grade and Ava 2nd grade! LOL
After that the girls had pizza and recharged their energy levels to get ready for the neighborhood scavenger hunt. OMG tooooooo funny of a game and it's ALWAYS my favorite! The girls had 15 items on their list and had to photo their team in front of each item from their phone. The first team back with a photo of each item on the phone, wins. This game did not end on a happy note for the losing team. We had sore winners and sore losers on this one.

After that game we came home and had cookie cake and opened gifts. Notice the shirts? My friend Ariell made these for the girls. Aren't they too cute! They say Loomer on them.

It was then getting close to the time for a few of the girls to leave since they couldn't stay the night. So they worked on their mini loom boxes by decorating them with paint pens.

This was quite a fun slumber party. We had some drama and a lot of eye rolling but we all survived. I love it when the girls leave in the morning and tell Shelby thanks for inviting them, and that her parties are always the funnest and how awesome her mom is. :-)
