off to a good start!

Yesterday both kids had a fabulous day. Tucker behaved himself and only had to give up his ruler a handful of times b/c he couldn't stop playing with it. He said he loved PE the best. Shelby on the other hand hates PE b/c she claims all they do is run. She had a great first day also but was bummed to find out she can't have her own water bottle this year. She has to only get water at the water fountain. Oh my poor child!! Both kids were wiped out and I assumed would go to bed early. Shelby didn't but Tucker was down before the sun.

First Day of School - 2011

Wooooooooo-hooooooooooo!!!! It's the first day of school!!! Hallelujah!! Shelby woke up before her alarm went off for 7am. I had to force Tucker out of bed. I made them biscuits and bacon for breakfast, their favorite. Shelby was too excited to eat. Tucker ate his and hers.

We were off to Shelby's school first where we discovered Mr. Rich had moved a few name plates around so Shelby was no longer sitting next to Rachel...a good thing probably. I think Shelby knew all but 2 kids in her class, which I think is awesome. (I CLEARLY remember 2nd grade and the awesome friends that I still have today. Wow! Girls that's 28 years now!)

Next we were off to Tucker's school at the Kid City Christian Academy. He was all ready to go. He had no problem with us leaving him, but I think tomorrow may be a different story after he realizes that there's no "centers" to play in. And he's going to have to actually sit in his seat for longer than 5 minutes.

School Box

Shelby decorated her school box with some snazzy stickers today. She's soooo ready for school to start!

Came home to busted water pipes today. Thank God Lonnie is a good handyman! Now if we could just get some rain!!!

School Supplies = $211

One week until school starts. ONE WEEK PEOPLE!!!! We've decided to enroll Tucker into private kindergarten since he's not of age to go to public school kindergarten because he doesn't turn 5 until October. It has nothing to do with needing to learn "subjects" to be prepared. It's so he can learn to sit and do work and follow directions. That way when he starts "real" kindergarten in public school, we hope he will be prepared. We decided to enroll him in the Kid City Christian Academy program. He'll have to wear a uniform shirt with khaki or navy shorts/pants everyday. They tested him to see which class he would be in and when the results came in, to say I was shocked is and understatement. I'm not sure what they were looking for, but they placed him in the GT class. Maybe it was to remove him from a few other boys that are attending b/c they are all trouble together and Tucker is usually the leader of the pack. Who knows. Either way, he starts in a week, the same day as Shelby.

We went school supply shopping a few weeks back. I remember doing this as a kid and loooooooved it. Shelby is definitely my child b/c she loves it too. She loves to pick out the snazzy spirals and folders. Last year she had to have all solid stuff, but this year she doesn't. (Oh, did I mention that Shelby had prayed for 2 years of getting Mr. Rich for her teacher and she got him!!!! She is so excited!!!)  Since I had to buy for 2 kids this time, I about killed over when the target cashier told me my total was $211!! And that price did not include Shelby's backpack, lunch kit, and zipper binder.

It's hard to tell in the photo, but Shelby's back pack is mesh (school requires clear or mesh) and it's pink with lime green hearts and stars all over it.

Capri Sun Tote

Shelby has been saving capri sun pouches for weeks. It's been driving me crrraazzzyyyy!! Every time I turn around they are just laying around. She kept asking to make a purse out of the pouches so today I helped her put it together with the hot glue gun. I can't sew, so that was the next best option. I'm not sure how long it'll hold up but she's pretty darn happy with it.

I saw this in my rearview mirror this morning and had to capture it asap. Look at these 2 next to each other!!! Ahhh, so sweet. This is a RARE moment!!!

Swim Card Test

Shelby passed her swim test Saturday for girl scouts. This is quite an accomplishment. First she had to swim 5 different stroke styles, 2 laps each. Not too hard but tiring. Then in order to receive her safe boaters card, she had to jump in the pool, fully dressed with jeans and shoes on and tread water for 5 minutes in the deep end and then they tossed her a life jacket in which she had to put on in the water, buckle it, and then swim to the other side of the pool and crawl out over the edge. She was the youngest doing the test. The rest of the girls were 10 and over. I was soooo proud of her. It was tough but she did it!!! Now she's certified to go sailing with girl scouts!!

Our Sunday Afternoon...

Today I took the kids to Schreiber park in Galveston. I'm really suprised that I just found out about this park. It's a really cool park....except that the bathrooms were super scary and minus the bum that was sleeping on the playground.

After nearly melting we got in the car and headed down the seawall and pulled over for a few minutes on the beach. A few minutes turned into an hour and a half.

Lonnie wasn't with us. Apparently if he was, Tucker wouldn't have been in these rocks where apparently there are crabs. We didn't see any though. Only barnacles.

And then Shelby stepped on a rock covered in the barnacales and cut her foot (I captured a blurry frantic spaz out of Shelby when it happend). After that we left. Would have been nice if the life gaurd working on her tan would have climbed off her post and gave some first aid, but no.

So we are leaving the island and I'm getting onto the freeway. Tucker is crying in the backseat that he has to pee and Shelby is crying that her foot is going to fall off and it's covered in blood. I'm trying to pass a car getting onto the freeway and what do you know. I pass GPD who pulls me over. So both kids are screaming and crying in the back and the cop actually asks me if I knew I was speeding. Duh!! Yes of friggin course!! Don't you hear my kids???? I was passing that van that was going so slow! So he takes his sweet time writing me a ticket and tells me to slow down. Seriously????? So I slowed down....until I got over the causeway.

Kids Choice Awards - Funanza - 2011

Tonight is the Kids Choice Awards Funanza party. Funanza is a program put on by Shelby's school music teacher outside of school. Over the summer she put on a 6 week long camp with each week having a theme. Shelby only attended 1 week but most kids attended all 6 weeks. Shelby attended the week of Camp Rock. Remember all those videos I posted a week or 2 ago??? So tonight is the end of summer party which is being held at the South Shore Harbour Hotel. Helllllllo snazzy!!!! Shelby was suppose to go as herself as a pop star or as her favorite star. Shelby thought long and hard and wanted to go as herself but in something sparkly. So we went to the mall last weekend and came up with her outfit. Who knew she would be UNDER dressed!!!!!!! I just dropped her off and HOLY FRIGGIN COW what some of those girls had on as a "costume". I HAD to get pics to show y'all but I had to act like I wasn't some crazy stalker person taking pics of elementary school girls. Yes, ELEMENTARY!!!

Ok, are you ready? Look at my sweet innocent precious girl.

I'm thinking this little girl is suppose to be Ke$ha and not rainbow bright. Not sure about the girl in yellow though. I'll have to ask Shelby when I pick her up, but I was thinking JoLo but she may be too 2000.
