League City Dog Park - GS silver award

Shelby and 3 other scouts from our troop are in the midst of working on their Silver Award. It is the 2nd highest honor you can get as a girl scout. There is so much red tape it's becoming extremely stressful which we do NOT have the time nor energy for. But we are pushing along trying to make it all work. The girls are partnered up with the League City Dog Park committee who are in the process of building a dog park in League City. They have given Shelby and the girls the opportunity to be a part of something new and big for the city, the first dog park ever for the city. The girls have been working the local fundraisers to help raise money and awareness for the park. They have about 1.5 years to work on this project and it will probably take every single bit of that time. Not because of the slow build, but because of all the red tape with GS council. I want to dig my eyeballs out with a fork at times! UGH!

Camp Casa Mare - 2016

Our GS troop has twindled and after Cadette Weekend - Survive the Night in April, we had 3 girls not recovered enough for another "camping" weekend. So with our 4 left over girls, we took them to Casa Mare in Seabrook for the weekend to finish up our Journey work and work on a few badges. It was by far the easiest GS weekend for us. It was very lazy and relaxing. Although Shelby desperately wants to quit scouts, I'm being that mean mom and making her stay in. We don't do near as much as we use to and why quit now when you only have a few years left and the opportunities for college scholarships will be fantastic!

Camp Windamere

Took the scouts to camp windamere for some hiking, archery and cast iron skillet cooking. No ticks this time and I only had to use the first aid kit once!!

Never a dull moment at GS meetings!

I'm clearing off photos on my phone and came across these photos from a recent GS meeting where the girls were talk show hosts discussing school problems. These girls had me cracking up all evening long! None of these girls go to school together anymore so there's always so much to talk about!

Girl Scout Spring 2015 Retreat

This past weekend I took my girl scouts to Camp Casa Mare for a little retreat. We spent the weekend learning to cook different things without setting anything on fire and we made over 100 pet toys for the local animal shelter that they are volunteering with. This completed the last bit that we needed to do in order for the girl to earn their bronze award.

Girl Scouts at the zoo

We spent last Saturday at an animal habitat Girl Scout badge workshop at the Houston zoo. We practically had the entire zoo to ourselves. Exhausting but fun!

Camp Casa Mare 2014

I spent mother's day weekend camping with "my girls". My troop girls that is. We used this weekend to complete our campers badge, jewelers badge, and our service project. The girls got along great and it was actually quite relaxing since we were on the water.

This was our view. These are other girl scouts out sailing. Once Shelby turns 11 she will get to go to Mariner Camp and learn how to sail her own sunfish. How cool is that???!!!
Girls making rainbow loom bracelets as part of their jeweler badge.
Gaga ball pit - kind of like dodgeball.
Midnight Bowling Pins
Girls cutting, knotting and braiding tshirts into dog toys for the animal shelter.
Girls painting washers and bolds as part of their jeweler badge.
