Retirement

The day has finally come. Dad retires! It's been such a long time coming! 33 years!! He's talked about this day for years, yet we never knew when he'd actually follow through. I'm so glad (and proud) that he finally took the step.

Mom and Dad already have plans to head out to Vegas Thursday and I'm sure they have a few vacations in the work for the year 2011. And knowing Dad, he'll be taking TWO naps a day and doing A LOT of this......

Gingerbread House

Today after church the kids created (and ate) their gingerbread houses. The houses are still standing but there's not much candy left.

Lowes

Now I see why Tucker wanted to run errands with me instead of Lonnie. I was going to where there were "fun" things! LOL And HE is the one who told me to take his picture.

2010 thanksgiving day parade

We just finished up at the Thanksgiving Day parade in downtown Houston. It was soooooooo windy that they couldn't keep the floats upright!

Tucker Ear Update

Yesterday I took Tucker to the ENT to have a different hearing test. After him protesting going back there (fearing shots after last week) and me coaxing him with all that I had, he eventually had his ears evaluated. The good news - they did 3 different hearing tests and he passed all 3. The bad news - if his tubes do not fall out by May, they will have to surgically remove them b/c they can't stay in longer than 3 years for fear of them creating holes in his ear drums. So let's all pray that these tubes fall out within the next 6 months. And now I know that Tucker CHOOSES not to listen to me. ;-)

Tucker's 4th Birthday Photos

These photos are way out of order, but I'm having an issue with blogger this morning. Here are some photos from Tucker's bday party. Sorry I didn't have them up any sooner. I really played lazy this weekend since I had 4 days off and it was the first weekend we had nothing we just had to do.

This is my nephew Jessie playing with Tucker. Jessie was my nephew from earlier this year that was in the NICU at TX Children's for being premature. He's a little chunky monkey now! :-)

Tucker

Tucker doesn't listen.
Tucker is a loud talker.
Tucker still has his tubes in his ears.
Tucker has A LOT of ear wax.
Tucker failed his hearing test today.

Chuggington

It took me an hour to put this set together with no instructions tonight. I need to super glue it. I will NEVER put it together again. I said a lot of words I hope Tucker won't repeat at school tomorrow. LOL

Sunday Photos

Sunday morning we skipped church to go pick up Tucker's bday cake for his party that day (I'm still editing party photos). I thought it might be a good idea to take the kids out and snap a few photos in attempt to get some good shots for our Christmas card this year. I now know why the pros want to do photos super early in the morning, and not at 10am like we did. Lighting causes shadows and squinting in every shot. Plus Tucker does not stay still for more than 1 second. So nothing fantastic for the cards came of this day, but here are a few of what I managed to get. I've also discovered that I do not like Tucker in this outfit...and he needs a haircut.

Awards

Today was a big day for Shelby. She received a reading award and an All A's honor roll award. But most importantly to her was the red ribbon for reaching 20 AR points. That's a pretty big number for a 1st grader. We went out and celebrated at Lupe Tortilla's.

Last Soccer Game of the Season

Saturday was the last soccer game of the season. I literally could feel the biggest weight lifted off my shoulders once Tucker's game was finished. Shockingly he played 2 quarters of the game. He might have played more but every player was there and they were only playing 6 kids at a time. He even got to throw in a ball which totally made his day.

After Tucker's game the team gathered at cici's pizza for lunch, games, cupcakes and tropheys.
After Tucker's team party, we high tailed it to Main Event to pick up Shelby who was there that morning for a girls scout event, and we rushed to her game. I realllllly loved Shelby's coaches this year and hopefully next season she will be on their team again.
Shelby just blocked a goal from the other team. She's a pretty good goalie keeper.
So soccer season is over. We will not sign Tucker up again until next Fall, if even then. But no sooner than that. Someone please remind me the hellacious season if I think I'm going to do it any sooner than that. (Sort of like Disney World, LOL) We will most definitely sign Shelby up in the spring though.
