Concert Review
The concert was SO MUCH FUN!!!! Normally Skylar is the one bouncing off the walls and Shelby is mellow, but it was opposite this time. I would not be surprised if Shelby has a lost voice this morning or a sore throat. Taylor is a MAJOR hair thrower. I mean MAJOR!! More than anyone I have EVER seen!!! Girl has got to have a headache! She gives TONS of seductive looks and stuff. It was soooooooooo not what I was expecting, but she was still VERY adorable and sweet. She REALLLLLY touches her audience, who were mainly high school girls. And when she sang her song 15, most teenagers were teary eyed. So this morning I listened to the song on the way in to hear the words and can totally see why. Oh, I am dreading this age!!! Her show was quite funny b/c it was all geared towards ex-boyfriends and fairytails. I'll try and upload photos soon.

Last soccer game
Yesterday was our last soccer game of the spring season. All I can say is THANK YOU GOD!!! It was so friggin hot and humid. Poor Shelby was about to kill over with a heat stroke but she managed to push through like a super star. She did have to sit out for about 5 minutes and cool off but went back in and gave it her all. We had been thinking about keeping her in soccer for the summer, but there is just no way. Not when it's only 90* now and next month it'll be 100*. We'll re-enroll her in the Fall and maybe by then we'll have figured out
whether to coach or not. ;-)

Shelby's school program
Last night was Shelby's school performance called "3 of a kind". I have a ton of photos to upload, but I took this short video from my phone. Shelby's in the very back, in a yellow shirt, on the right hand side, 3rd from the end (yellow hairbows in her hair). Not the closest or clearest video, but you can hear them sing. :-)

Tucker's Spring 2010 Performance
Last week was Tucker's end of the school year Spring performance where the kids get up on the stage and sing. Tucker is not a fan of this so he mainly just stood on stage and made crazy faces chanting zuweemama (Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie). Obviously he got on little Natalie's nerves and she told him to hush! LOL

How to shuck corn....
This past Sunday we had our families over for a mother's day lunch. On the menu was fresh corn. Shelby wanted to help so Lonnie showed her how to shuck corn.

One of the activities Shelby's going to be doing this summer is cooking classes. She's quite excited.
Summer Plans
Last summer after the kids about drove Mimi to the looney bin, we decided that the kids MUST go into some sort of summer program. This is the best time to do it since it's the summer before dad retires, which means we more than likely would have been starting some sort of preK daycare program and afterschool care program in the fall. I am forever greatful for my mom caring for our babies when they were babies. I'm sure we would have adjusted just fine with daycare when they were babies, but my mom nurtured, loved and taught them SO MUCH over these past few years. They have a super tight bondness with their Mimi and I am so thankful for that!
So on to our summer program plans. I took Shelby out of school early last friday to tour a few locations. We agreed on a place (#1) that will have 2 field trips a week, cooking classes, lockers, daily themed activities, water slide and slip and slide fridays, all meals provided but Shelby the picky eater can bring in her own lunch if she wants, and the best part is that Shelby has several friends already there. The downside....Tucker has to be 100% potty trained and doesn't need reminding to go. (Hence the current PT bootcamp we are in right now.) Tucker gets out of his current private school next week and hopefully with 100000% concentration on PT, we will get this done. Our current problem is that he's full of "accidents" at his current school. Not sure what the problem is there. Well, yeah I do. LOL
One of the places we visited (#2) was very institutional to me. The place the kids are going to this summer had very bright bold colors, game room, media room, class rooms, and a diner. #2 had all glass walls, doors...including bathroom doors were all see thru glass. NOT A FAN! They had a cafeteria and you could not bring in outside food. You either eat what they provide or don't eat at all. Shelby started hiding behind me at this point. No way was I sending her somewhere that made her do that. They had a pretty neat splash pad for the kids, but they only allow them to go out to it on Friday afternoons for 30 minutes. Nobody in Texas wants to go play outside in the afternoon! You'd melt or die of heat stroke! But the best part about #2 was they had 3 field trips a week. Shelby realllly liked this. But we went back to #1 to discuss a few things and decided back on #1 for sure.
The kids are super excited. I sure hope Tucker can do this!

Peanut Butter
Shelby is a verrrrrrry picky eater. Her current phase right now for lunches at school are peanut butter sandwiches. No jelly. Just PB. I've enrolled the kids in a place for the summer instead of driving Mimi crazy all summer long. They have all sorts of fun stuff planned and several of Shelby's friends go there. But that's a whole other post. Here's the deal...no PEANUT butter allowed at all in the place. They do provide lunch but my picky eater prefers to bring her own. So I have to find a PB replacement. I've recently purchased a few different "butters" to try out. Sunflower seed butter was a no go. She couldn't even bring herself to swallow it. Next was honey almond butter. She was ok with this. Didn't love it, but tolerated it. Then I found a hazelnut butter and cocoa. I need to figure out the nutritional factors in it. She seems to love love love this. Even wants it compared to regular PB. Which makes me think this probably isn't a PB substitute. It was with all the PBs though. Next I'm going to try Nutella and see how that goes.

Shelby Rocks Out!
A few weeks back Nanny and Poppy Charlie took Shelby for the weekend and they went to the Houston's Children Festival. Superstar Shelby got up on stage and performed for a live audience singing one of her favorite tunes, Taylor Swift's Love Story.
Mr. Rupert
Have y'all met Mr. Rupert? I can't remember. Mr. Rupert is a pet Lonnie's had for a while. I say Lonnie's pet b/c I do not clean the cage or feed this pet AT ALL. I will pet his head but otherwise, I'm not really into holding him since he poops when he's nervous...a lot. But the kids don't seem to mind. Archie seems to love him too. He just sniffs and attempts to lick at him when we have him out of the cage. But the cats can't be around. So Mr. Rupert lives in a mansion up on top of the entertainment cabinet. It's so big it's nearly hanging off now. He's got 3 rooms and 3 wheels that he runs in NON STOP at night. He is quite cute.

Ice Cream Cups
I follow a website called Bakerella that I LOVE. Recently they posted an idea that I wanted to try out so here's our attempt.
First we got a bowl of chocolate almond bark and melted it in the microwave.
Then I blew up some WATER ballons with air. Water balloons are best because of their small size, but holy cow these things were hard to blow up.
Then you have to let the chocolate cool a bit and then dip the balloons in the chocolate. You have to wait for the chocolate to cool down otherwise the balloons will pop. Place the chocolate balloon on wax paper and let cool down until the chocolate hardens.

Then you take a needle and pop the balloons!
Then get your favorite ice cream, which currently Shelby's is the new Happy Tracks by Blue Bell.
And then you have an ice cream sundae in a bowl you can eat!

Mother's Day Project
Here's a little project Shelby did this weekend. She made bouquets of flowers for a mother's day lunch we hosted Sunday.
