Monday Updates

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. We had a busy eventful weekend. Friday Lonnie and I drove to Dallas to see Daniel Tosh at the Majestic Theater and had a great time. Saturday we missed Shelby's first soccer game of the season, but Mimi and Poppy took her and she did great and they won! YAY! Sunday I took Shelby to a bday party for a classmate at The Painted Potter. That was a really cool place!! I thought when we left that Shelby would tell me that that's where she wants her bday party, but she didn't like the fact we have to wait 2 weeks to get the item back that she painted. So she has decided that she wants a slumber party. Holy cow!! A slumber party??? For a 6 y/o??? On one hand I think that would be super fun, but then on the other hand, it's super terrifying!!!! Eek!! Monday I had jury duty in Galveston. Sat through voir dire, but didn't get picked for the actual jury. I'm still on call the rest of the week though. Ick! Tucker got sent home from school yesterday with a note informing us that he had poop cooties. So he had to stay home today. Mom is out of commission this week due to an injury so sweet Aunt Bobbie stepped in to help out. Tucker is loving her b/c she took him for donuts this morning. Hopefully he'll be back at school tomorrow. I have loads of pics to upload from my camera this week hopefully. If not, this weekend. Otherwise, here are a few from my phone that I took from the pottery party.

Zhu Zhu Pets Available at Toys R Us!!

I saw this on the news this morning. It's apparently going to be a "hot" item this year for xmas. This is my kind of pet!!!! You don't have to feed it or clean poop up!

Heading to Dallas

We are heading to the Big D tonight! Yay! We are going to see Daniel Tosh. Last year Lonnie and I went to see this guy in Houston at the House of Blues with friends Mitch and Amy but I got so sick that Lonnie had to bring me home and we only saw about 10 minutes of the show. This is one of Lonnie's all time favorite comedians. I found out that he was coming to Dallas this year, not Houston. So for Lonnie's birthday, we are shipping the kids to Mimi's and Poppy's and going to check out Daniel Tosh at the Magestic Theater. The best part is that I got us front row seats! YAY!!!

Forgot to mention that Shelby started soccer again last week. She was such a drama queen about the cleats and was totally against wearing them. We almost quit the team over this b/c it was such a huge fiasco with her and we were at our wits end. But eventually I convinced her to wear them and she did just fine and said they were perfect.

I've also got a new blog background coming soon. It's a halloween theme. :-)

So far behind!

Sorry for the lack of posts and photos lately. My mom even got on to me about it! Hey! At least I'm a lot better than certain bloggers, who I will not name, that have not updated their blogs in MONTHS! I guess that's due to facebook. I refuse to convert to facebook and I'm one of the only few left.

A fell off the face of the planet last week. I came down with a sinus infection that seriously kicked me to the curb. What was so weird was that I had no nasal congestion and could breathe just fine. But everything else was jam packed. Thank God for zpak! After 3 days on that I finally began to feel normal again. I was kicking myself for missing so much work, but no worries. It was all here waiting for me when I got back to the office today. LOL

Over the weekend mom and I took the kids to shop for Halloween costumes. Shelby had been saying all along that she wanted to be tinkerbell. But once we got to the stores, she changed her mind and was looking at other stuff. Like what teenagers wear!! Ugh!! NO!! She needs to be tinkerbell. And no, Tucker isn't going to wear that Thomas the Train apron for a costume, he's going to be Bob the Builder. Hmph!! Then mom politely reminded me that it's not what "I" want them to be. It's what "they" want to be for halloween. Hmmm, yeah, I don't think so. Not yet. I can still have some sort of control over this. LOL Anyway, Tucker could care less about the costumes. He was too busy checking out humping dog doll and a zombie baby crawling on the floor. Needless to say, we came home with no costumes. I can't believe how expensive costumes are and they are barely held together with a few pieces of thread!!!! I've almost got Shelby convinced to be Hannah Montana again this year and she can wear her new costume that she got from disneyworld in May.

Over the next few days I need to come up with an invitation for Tucker's bday party. Here's another issue I run in to. I'm thinking we should do a cute carnival theme, but if I let Tucker choose his theme, he'll pick Disney Cars. I guess I should go with what HE wants since it is HIS birthday. LOL

New Moon Trailer

After Twicon in Dallas, I was pretty burned out on the whole Twilight saga. Still love the books/movie but I just couldn't even follow the blogs anymore. The overzealous fans just did me in. But I've had a few months off now and last night saw the official latest release trailer of New Moon, the 2nd book in the Twilight series. And OMG!! I know to those that haven't read it will think this is super cheezy, but for those that have read it, I'm sure this will excite them if they plan on seeing the movie. New director + more money = a better 2nd movie. SO EXCITED! Me and the girls have already bought our midnight preview tickets for November. SO EXCITED!

Tucker bit Shelby yesterday out of the blue. Holy cow I was mad!!!!
He's still apologizing to her tonight. I pray to God that he doesn't
do this at school. We've had a very firm discussion with him so he
better not!!!

OMG

Shelby just said OMG. Not oh my gosh. I about fell over laughing. I asked her where she learned that and she said"school". As in duhhhh!

playing photographer

Every year I fork out hundreds of dollars on a professional photographer to do family photos. Last year I finally found a lady I loved, but this year she's not returning my emails. I'm not sure if she's still in business or what. So this year I'm going to attempt it myself. Today was the day I was going to take the kids to the park we normally do photos at and attempt to play photographer. The day didn't start out so great. I woke up with a migraine. Lonnie forgot to leave me the paparazzi camera. 80% chance of rain today. And to top all of that, I forgot to wash the shirts I wanted the kids to wear for the pictures. So I went back to bed and slept off the headache. Found a few semi matching shirts in the closet. Grabbed my throw down camera. And sped to the park. I was so impressed with how the day went and with my crummy camera, that I got some really cute shots. My plan is to go back again in a few weeks with the good camera and the right outfits and get even better pics! Here are a few of the 50+ I took.

Tucker's 1st day of School

Tucker has his first day of school (preK-MDO) last week. I thought that he would have a hard time adjusting to a new teacher, but he didn't. He loves Mrs. Leah, and fortunately he already knows her b/c she was once Shelby's teacher. He's doing so good there and loves his new friends and glad his old friends are still there!

Tidbits of Shelby

Shelby is addicted to vicks. LOL I've never heard of a 5 y/o loving vicks all over their body until now.

Every night at dinner we talk to Shelby about her day at school. She tells us all about Harley getting on black everyday. She tells us about who sat next to her at lunch. She tells us about music, pe, or whatever "special" they had that day. And then she gets to recess. Lonnie and I about fell over when she told us what they play at recess. VAMPIRE!!! They play this ever single day. I swear these kids must all have mom's reading the Twilight series! LOL

Saturday Playdate

Saturday, Shelby's friend Halle came over for a few hours to play. One of the many things they did to stay occupied was craft time. I'm not sure what they were making....
But all these ended up on the floor and I stepped on them and hurt the heck out of my foot!!!

Yeah, I'm messing around with the blog layout again. I can hear a few of you saying now, "wow, that's too busy, makes me go cross eyed". Give me a few days and I'll change it up again. I'm playing around with some stuff to get ready for fall.

Pool Party

Sunday after church we went to a pool party to celebrate rally day for church. All the kids had a great time!
