Fall festival

Today we had Shelby's fall festival between soccer games. Here she is with her friends Kaylee and Victor.

Trumpeting Tucker

Here's a cute photo from Tucker's music teacher that she sent me this weekend. Too cute!

party favors

I am soooooooo far behind with getting Tucker's party stuff together. Normally I have favors and cake already planned a month ago and here the party is next weekend. Eek! Today I ordered Tucker's party favors. This year Tucker is all about Thomas the Train (again) so I ordered Thomas cookies. Now I've got to come up with a cake. And not the same cake as the last Thomas bday cake he had.

Math Night

Tuesday night was Math Night at Shelby's school. I was secretly dreading the event since last year at Reading Night it was a fiasco with Tucker. But I was determined to handle this on my own. Thankfully Tucker was awesome for this event while Shelby went from station to station solving math problems. We bought our wrist bands for the school fall festival for this weekend and then stocked up on books at the book fair.
We found some of Shelby's art work in one of the school hallways!

Tucker

Happy Bday Tucker

Today my baby turns 4. I went in to his room about a dozen times last night to watch him sleep. His last night of being 3. :-(

Today at school they will celebrate with Thomas the Train cupcakes and tonight we will head out to Chuck E Cheese for his birthday dinner. Then we will celebrate with his party at Jump N Jungle next weekend. Yes, it's a week long celebration pretty much! LOL

Weekend Update

This past weekend was a whirlwind of events as usual. Saturday was Tucker's soccer game. He played 3 quarters and only whined during 2 of them. He played the 3 quarters b/c I was out on the field coaching since one of the coaches got lost and was super late. We only have 2 more games left. I don't think we will do soccer for him again for a while after this season is over.

Afterwards we went to his school fall festival which was realllllly cute. Lonnie and I split the kids up to try and make things easier. I got Tucker. It wasn't any easier I don't think. LOL The best spot at the fall festival was in the petting zoo...where he was confined inside the gate.
After the fall festival I took Shelby to her patch earning activity for girl scouts (skipping her soccer game) and dropped her off. That gave Tucker and I 2 hours to get the pumpkin project together for Sunday school the next day.

After that we picked up Shelby, went home and cleaned her room for THREE hours, and then "attempted" to have a popcorn and movie night with Harry Potter.

Sallie the Elf has returned to the Blevins' house so I'm hoping this means we will have clean bedrooms and better attitudes for a month or two. :-)

Sunday was the pumpkin project at church and that afternoon, my life saving parents, took the kids to their house for the afternoon and Lonnie and I napped for HOURS. It was soooooooooooo nice! Then we ended the day with a fabulous dinner at my parents. No cooking or cleaning...it was great! ;-)

Sunday School

Today was the big pumpkin event. It was fantastic and a lot of fun.
Here's a little example of what the kids did.

Pumpkin Treats

I just finished up getting tomorrows treat sacks done for Sunday school. There's nothing like getting the kids hyped up on sugary pumpkins and sending them in to church. LOL

Tucker's school photos

The Picture People came to Tucker's school last month for school
photos. Had I known they were going to be this cute, I would have paid
better attention to what he was wearing and got him a haircut!

Pumpkins

I'm not quite sure what I've gotten myself into, but I'll find out on Sunday. Sunday is my day to teach Sunday school. I have to admit that I love doing Sunday school. Do NOT spread that around though. I wanted to somehow incorporate Halloween and Sunday school together and found some great stories, that basically led to this....

So this Sunday we will be carving pumpkins during Sunday school. I'm expecting 20-25 kids. This should be fun!

Too Funny Tucker

  • Grrr, Mommy, the monster is growling in my tummy. You need to feed him. Grrr, he's wants a piece of cheese in 4 squares......with some milk.

  • Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, come quick. There's a snake in the potty (as he laughs hysterically when I get in there b/c it's just his poo).

vacation

5 months until vacation! Wooo-hoooo!! I just saw this photo on one of the sites I frequent of our vacation destination. Maybe this time we will catch a starfish as big as this one.

weekend update

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. We had a busy weekend between a garage sale/bake sale, soccer games and birthday parties. Lonnie and I also celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary yesterday. We had such a great time! And now a busy week lies ahead of us. Have a great week everyone!

Girl Scout Camp

Shelby has recently joined girl scouts. Can I just say that Shelby was MADE for girl scouts. Between crafts, volunteering, camps, singing and dancing, and earning patches, there's nothing more up her alley!

We went to our first troop meeting last week and she had her first girl scout outing on Sunday. It was called Scoutdoor Adventures. Fortunately for us, there's a girl scout retreat campsite down the road from our house and this is where it was at. I dropped her off for the afternoon and wondered what she was doing the entire time. It's hard not to let myself be a troop leader, but I really do not have the time to take on another responsibility. I have to keep reminding myself that. I do get to attend a lot of the outings and meetings though so that's cool.

Anyway, I showed up about an hour early to pick Shelby up and was able to catch her in action. She was learning to shoot an arrow. Check out the videos!

She was exhausted and hot when I picked her up, but she had sooooooooooooooo much fun and loved every single minute of it.
Then Lonnie and I had the day off together Monday and had to go to the girl scout shop and buy her girl scout fun stuff. I think we are just as excited for her as she is to be in this.

My Little Vampires

I thought vampires weren't suppose to get sick! My little ones have had cooties for a few days now. Shelby with a small cold but a tough cough. And then Tucker (who is so non chalant about it) has thrown up a few times. Nothing seems to slow that boy down. Unlike Shelby who will lay on the couch for days and embrace all the attention she can get. LOL

Kemah

This past weekend we took the kids to Kemah to celebrate Nanny's birthday. Kemah is a good place to remind myself that Disneyworld right now is not a smart move. Tucker ran off 4 times. Disciplined each time. And still continued to do it.

I know you can't make out the people in this photo, but look how high in the air it is!
Now look at the front, to your right. That's Shelby on the end next to the bald guy in sunglasses.
I think this ride is called the Pharoh. It swings back and forth and then goes almost upside down.

That's Shelby with her hands up. Can you see her? Next to her in the red shirt is my almost 12 y/o niece Kenzi hiding her eyes!

Can you see the girl in front of Shelby plugging her ears? LOL

This was one of those spinning ones that is hard to watch myself b/c then I get dizzy.

And then there are the safe, non traumatic, don't make you want to throw up rides, like the airplanes. Tucker rode this about 5 times in a row after we rode the train twice. The boy with all the bandaids and no bo-bos.

They had a super cute set up of pumpkins. Too bad the sun was so bright. Every angle caused eye squinching photos. At least it was a beautiful day!

And then it was time to head home and Tucker was asleep before we got out of the parking lot.

Halloween Treat Sacks

We stayed home from church today b/c both kids have cooties. That
bought 3 hours of free time to get some crafty stuff done. We worked
on goody bags for Tucker's halloween school party. These turned out
reallllllly cute. For 20 treat bags I spent less than $20. I had these
adorable labels made up to seal the sacks up. In the bags, we filled
them with a halloween rice krispy treat, vampire teeth (a current
favorite of Tucker's) and halloween silly bandz.

Spelling Words

I'm not sure why Shelby resists learning to spell when she can read like a pro. This week's spelling words gave her major spaz attacks. I really need to video these drama queen moments so when she looks back in 30 years and wonders why her child is acting the way she is, she can see where she gets it from. Although I was NEVER this way! ;-)

So what we have been doing is making up little phrases to go with the spelling of the words she has trouble with and then we tape them all over the house for her to try and remember. This should detour her from writing on the desk again, LOL, which we reminded her again last night not to do.
