True Cross graduation 2018

Once again, I'm way behind. Going to catch up posting pics when possible. Shelby graduated from True Cross the same day as the Santa Fe high school shooting. It was a tough day but nonetheless a beautiful graduation.

8th grade graduation

Rambo the Goat

This is Rambo. Originally tater salad, then Levi, then Shelby lost a bet to a dad in the barn, so now he's Rambo. Rambo is a boar whether goat that Shelby is raising for FFA. I have to be constantly reminded that Rambo is a project and not a pet. I can't help but love this little guy!!! He got reallllly sick when we first brought him home and had to be treated for pneumonia. He is so much fun!

More goat :-)

Goat!!

Barn Sign

So apparently everyone has a sign made over their barn stall so naturally I had to make one for Rambo.

Forced family fun

We went to the Texas city dike one Saturday what we deemed as forced family fun. We lasted maybe 2 hours. Lol

Mother's Day 2018

Besides hanging with my family and getting special gifts, mother's day was one filled with a few surprises. Shelby mowed the lawn and Tucker vacuumed the pool. I may never see this again, but I'll take it on Mother's Day!!! :-)

STEM academy - Tucker

Last year I was in a dilemma on what to do with Tucker and the middle school STEM academy. It's a new program being offered to kids who apply and meet the criteria. I opted to not send Tucker and instead enrolled him at the Catholic school with Shelby and Brody. Then hurricane Harvey came and flooded the school. After 3 months of commuting to the "temporary" school in Texas City, I decided it was best to pull Tucker and put him back in public school. What I was hoping he would get out of from the private school just wasn't happening due to the storm. I didn't want him to fall behind. So in January he started at Lobit which is the school directly across from our neighborhood.

Last month I was notified that there would be 5 openings for 6th grade STEM. All the kids in 5th grade STEM automatically move up. Majority of Tucker's friends from elementary school went to the STEM school. In order to get into STEM, they look at grades, attendance, STARR scores, do an interview, write an essay, and get letters of recommendation from 2 teachers. So even though Tucker can be a total ding-dong, the boy is one smart cookie! He will now be attending the STEM academy next fall at the Barber Middle School campus. He is super pumped to be back with his friends again next year!

(Tucker right before his school dance last Friday.

It was 90+ degrees and he wore a jacket.)

8th grade graduation centerpieces

This is the week!! Shelby graduates from 8th grade! They don't do this in public school so the boys were a little bummed that they won't get this, but they will at least have an 8th grade formal that Shelby didn't get to have. Thursday is the luncheon at school and I made centerpieces for each kid (13) to take home with them.

Spring Baseball 2018 - Astros

This season Tucker was drafted onto the Astros' little league team. This season was a whole different ball game than the seasons in the past. These kids on this team are mostly all all-stars and have been playing together since tee-ball. Tucker only knows a handful of the kids from school. He plays between first, second, and outfield, and 1 game he played catcher. I have a love hate relationship with Tucker playing baseball. I love him playing it but HATE that games and practices aren't until 8pm and we don't get home until 10:30pm on school nights. One thing I have learned though, ALL middle school boys are whiners and complainers. Not just my boys. LOL I swear they all act like 2 year olds out there.

GCVA Volleyball season 2018

This volleyball season did not go according to plan but it has managed to go pretty well and I love Shelby’s coach this season. Due to Shelby’s surgery over the summer, she was automatically placed on the bottom team. They don’t call it the bottom team, but we know better. This season has been much better than last season. Shelby’s playing all around the court this season and doing awesome!
