Shelby learning to tie shoes!

Photos with Santa

We had photos with Santa today! It went well until Tucker crawled under a table and knocked over a glass vase which did a domino effect and shattered several glass vases. The photographer and wife seemed quite pissed and rushed us out. I apologized profusely and asked them to email me or call me with a bill and I'd pay to replace it all. They just wanted us out of there. Definitely not a child friendly place. They had candles on the floor burning. ON THE FLOOR!!!!!! Anyway, here's our photo. I'm so proud of Tucker. This was the first year he didn't spaz out.

Downtown Aquarium

Last weekend we went into downtown Houston to meet Joy and Charlie for dinner. We went to the downtown aquarium restaurant and had a fun evening. My photos are terrible. My cell phone takes crummy photos. Not really sure why since Lonnie and I have the same phone and his takes good pics.

new moon

Not sure if I should admit this or not, but I am part of the reason that this movie made $140.7 million this weekend. I saw it 3 times this weekend. It was good. REALLY good. BUT, if you haven't read the books, then you might not think so. You won't understand it.

cake balls

Well, I attempted making cake balls for SIL's baby shower. They weren't picture perfect, but they sure were tasty!

baby shower favors

I had my SIL's baby shower a few weekends ago. Instead of decorating the traditional baby decorations, I stuck with fall deco for a pumpkin patch theme. These were the party favors I made. I used washed out baby food jars and filled them with candy corn and tied them with an orange bow. Super cute. Well, at least I think it was. LOL

christmas party favors

I was quite crafty today. I think this was by far the easiest craft I've ever done. I plan to put 2-3 of these in a clear bag and tie it up with some christmas ribbon and use as party favors for Shelby and Tucker's christmas parties at school.

2 tips if you try this at home. 1 - get a razor blade, slice down the side of the crayon, and the paper peels right off. DO NOT use your fingernails otherwise you will end up with papercuts under your sore thumb nails. TRUST ME! 2 - use the rubber baking pans for these because it's far easier to get this crayons to pop out. They sell them at hobby lobby for $9.99 but you can print a 40% coupon online from their website and use it towards it.

Steps:
1 - peel crayons
2 - break crayons and fill holes
3 - bake at 350* for 20 minutes.
4 - cool in freezer or fridge until crayons harden
5 - pop out

New Moon

I can't believe I came to this. But here we are at the galleria and
this is Alex and Kiowa. You can't hear a thing. Way too many teenagers
screaming.

kerri

I don't think I can ever begin to thank you all for your prayers for my dear friend Kerri. Some of you have been following her caring bridge page @ http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kerripeech  In case you aren't, Kerri posted a message herself last night and I wanted to pass it along.

By the Grace of God...
hi all. I'm alive by the grace of God & the power of prayer! God must not be finished with me yet. I don't understand it all but do I have a story to tell. this is my first night at the rehab hospital & needed a night to myself. got a little feisty with mom & Adrian. Reading everything on here is making me cry! I think I need a good cry. Trying to fight my way home to Adrian & Hadley. Lost the baby but don't think that's really hit me. in a way it's for the best now. I don't know how to thank everyone for their love, support & prayers. couldn't have done it without all that. still have a long road to recovery. ok...this is way too long. signing off.
Kerri

I'm alive! Made it to rehab. The work begins tomorrow. So ready to gain some independence & mobility back. Can't even brush my teeth!

baking this weekend

Next weekend is my SIL's baby shower at my house. I'm going to get crafty and try and make dessert instead of ordering a traditional cake. So Shelby and I will be getting busy in the kitchen this weekend to see if this is possible. I've made cake balls before an they were delicious, just not very pretty. I hope to perfect that this weekend. I plan to use fall decorative colors though. The theme is "pumpkin patch". I'm still trying to think of a way to display them. I'm hoping to find candy corn (do they still sell that after halloween) and put them in mason jars and then stick the stick desserts upright in the jars.

This is cake:

This is brownie:

This is rice krispie treat:

I'm not sure how the rice krispie treats will turn out. I'm going to attempt these because I have a box of 40 in my pantry already made from halloween. So I'm hoping I can get a stick to poke through the bottom and then dip and decorate. I am NOT making home made rice krispie treats. That would be the biggest fiasco ever! I can just see Shelby and Tucker tracking sticky marshmellow mess everywhere! That's not easy to vacuum up.

Tucker's 3rd Birthday

Kerri is off the Ventilator!!!

Got some of the best news ever this morning! Kerri is totally off the ventilator!!!!! Over the weekend she showed her family, doctors, and nurses that she wasn't willing to be sedated anymore and proved to them that she could breathe on her own when they tested her by turning off the machines. Kerri showed them just how much of a fighter she is!!! So now she's breathing on her own with the help of a little oxygen mask. She's aware of her surroundings, but exhausted and weak. She's having to re-train her lungs to breathe. She's able to whisper to her family and answer questions.

happy halloween

Never expected to get all the comments that we did. Maybe we should have entered the kids into a costume contest! We might have won!!! LOL
