Spring Break 2015 - Fossil Rim Wildlife Center

After Dinosaur World we drove down the road to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center for the drive thru animal Safari. We drove thru in our own vehicle up and down, around and around, and it was never ending. Finally after 1.5 hour into this safari Mimi saw in our map that it was a 3 hour tour. Poor Tucker was car sick in the back seat. This safari was hysterical. Mimi laughed so hard she cried and I laughed so hard I could barely breath.
This animal slobbered allllll over Mimi.

His horns were way too close to my car for my liking.

That was it for our Spring Break adventure. We met Lonnie in Waco and he took the kids for the rest of their spring break. Our trip was only 3 days long but we packed a bunch in and had a memorable great time. I will pick them up Saturday and then close out spring break with a bang at the Rodeo on Sunday.

Spring Break 2015 - Dinosaur World

On day 3 of our trip we packed it up and headed to Glen Rose, TX where the city is all about dinosaurs. We went to this place called Dinosaur World. It looks like a big souvenir shop from the outside but it's packed with tons of other stuff. There was animaltronic museum, a fossil dig, a gem find, and a 1/2 mile trail that has life size dinosaurs all along it. Tucker was in dino heaven!

Spring Break 2015 Great Wolf Lodge

I am so far behind on photos. One day I'll eventually catch up.

For Spring Break this year the kids are splitting their time between me and Lonnie. So the first 1/2 of spring break was spent with me. My mom and I took them on a road trip to Grapevine, TX and we went to the Great Wolf Lodge. Wow! That was quite the experience. At first it was a bit overwhelming, but after we checked in and got settled and figured out how things work, the place was great! It was completely geared towards kids. It wasn't just a waterpark either. There were so many other things to do including something called Magiquest. It's way too complicated to explain, but the kids caught on immediately.

(Shelby avoided the camera most of this trip so you will mainly see Tucker in the pics over the next 3 days. LOL)

Shelby and Lonnie's Road Trip

A few weekends ago, Lonnie and Shelby took a little road trip together to central and south Texas. Their mission was to hit as many places in the odd ball book they could like I did with Shelby a few weekends prior to that. Since I wasn't there, I can't tell you where all these locations were, but they were in the car for 3 adventurous days with a major snafu.

Night 1 was spent at the Menger Hotel in San Antonio. Lonnie didn't tell Shelby how it's the most haunted hotel in Texas until the next morning. Fortunately she handled that well. As the day went on, they stopped at the Magic Time Machine for lunch. During that time, someone broke into Lonnie's truck and stole all their stuff. Work laptop, ipad, clothes, everything. So after dealing with the police and having to go shopping for clothes and everything else, they finally got back on the road and headed to Austin. Having the truck broken into was reallllllly traumatic for Shelby but Lonnie kept her going and showed her that it was just a bump in the road (although in the background Lonnie was of course furious! LOL).

So eventually I will get the shutterfly book made up for Shelby with all these crazy places, but in the mean time, here are photos of their trip.

More Oddball Texas

Here are some other places that we've checked out that are within an hour from home.

This is the teepee hotel out in Wharton. When we went to check it out we were told that the new owner won the lottery and refurbished the teepees.

This was a dinosaur park in Wharton. We are learning there is a lot of dinosaur history in Texas.

And this is the really big trumpet that's in Galveston.
