highway sign

It's important to know that you should fill your gas tank. Not that the freeway is shut down ahead and you need to take a different route and it's going to take 2 hours to get into work.

Tropical Storm Alex

What the heck? I thought this thing was suppose to be going to the middle of Mexico and now I look and it keeps moving towards TX. I don't expect it to hit Galveston, but if it keeps moving north, were going to end up with a dirty side of the storm.

First sleepover

Shelby is having her first big girl sleepover tonight with her friend Faith from school. This is the first time it's been with non family member. The afternoon has been very quiet around here. At first I thought it was nice and peaceful but now I'm missing her and want to go pick her up and bring her home. But I'll refrain.

Chuck E Cheese

We are at Skylar's 6th bday party in sugarland. I swear it's the
nicest CEC I have ever seen! It's brand new so it's superclean and not
jam packed!

Judges

Last night we went out to dinner at this place called Judges. My parents had told me about it and we decided to give it a try. Because we are snobs, we don't venture out to San Leon too often. LOL Those from here would know why. I'm not sure what this place was like pre-hurricane ike, but I thought it was fabulous now. The food wasn't all that good, but Shelby would argue that b/c she loved their hush puppies. I'm all for going to places that we can let our kids play while Lonnie and I can chat without interruptions for 5 minutes. This place was right on the water. There were wild parrots flying around and hermit crabs crawling on the decks! The view was beautiful including the sunset. Next time I'll bring our binoculars so the kids can see all the ships far out in the bay.
Tanya - I took this picture for you b/c you like to take pics of food. I took the pic of the menu since I was not going to be ordering this but I thought it was funny.

Panama City Beach

Look at this amazing beautiful beach!! I've been reading the PCB news daily on their updates and they keep repeating - we are not on the oil trajectory map.

And then I read it today: As of June 16th 2010, there is no oil on Panama City Beach’s waters or shoreline, nor has there been any oil reported in Bay County from the Deep Horizon Oil Spill. Right now, officials are expecting us to see some tar balls by weeks end, but the impact on Bay County is expected to be minimal and easy to clean up quickly. Panama City Beach is currently on the oil spill trajectory map. We are going to the beach daily to keep the live information flowing on the current conditions of our beaches. The Bay County EOC announced that we have over 110,000 feet of boom at the ready with boom already stages on Shell Island, Crooked Island, at the Hathaway Bridge, and Grand Lagoon. Currently there is around 30,000 feet of boom deployed in Bay County, and additional boom can be deployed in less than 24 hours when it is needed. The boom deployment strategy at this point is goaled at protecting inland waterways.
Well, there's no turning back. We are all paid up and the only way we get a refund is if the beach is EVACUATED. Not just closed. I'm praying to not see a nasty beach. I can handle a few tar balls. I just hope that shell island is still open b/c we planned on going snorkeling there.

Sarah's Skating Birthday Party

Saturday night was a girls night birthday/going away skating party for Sarah. Yes, as in roller skating. It's what Sarah wanted, so we couldn't deny her that. We had the best time ever! It was so much fun and I hate hate hate that Sarah is moving far far away and we won't be doing this stuff together for much longer.

Apparently Saturday nights are dead at the roller rink and Friday nights are the nights most people (middle schoolers) go. So we opted for the least crowded night to refrain from too much embarrassment for some of us. Ok, let me just say that skating is not like bike riding. When you put skates on 30 years later, you DO forget how to skate, unlike a bike. And when you fall, you fall a lot farther and a lot harder. Nobody broke anything. Sarah and a few others were pros as soon as they got out there. And Sarah owned her own pair of skates!?!?!?! The skating rink was the exact same as it was 30 years ago. Same music, same carpet, same smell, same everything!

Sarah and Courtney couple skating!

Check our Laura and her backward skating skills!

After skating, we went to Lupe Tortilla's for dinner and had a party room to ourselves. We dined on fabulous food, drank, and chowed down on a birthday cookie cake.

SO. MUCH. FUN!

A house full of sickies...

After getting over a 24 hour bug myself, I now get to enjoy having 2
kids with ear infections and a husband with strep throat. Awesome times.

Taylor Swift concert pics

Here are some pics from the Taylor Swift concert. The video at the bottom was during her song Love Story and you can see them taking off her ball gown and changing her into a wedding gown. It was quite cute!

Pool Party 2010

Shelby's end of the school year pool party was Saturday. We had a great turn out and the kids had a blast. This year we played 2 very fun games. One was squeeze the sponge of water into a bucket and see who fills it the fastest. The other was a relay race of fill the bucket with a cup of water that had holes in the bottom of it. The kids chowed down on pizza, popsicles, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and some cute fruit kabobs!

waterslide

I hope you all have had a fabulous weekend! We had Shelby's pool party at Mimi and Poppy's house Saturday. Man was it hot! I will get those pics uploaded this week to share. Today after church, Emilie came home with us to play. I managed to get the waterslide up which was a huge
surprise b/c I thought we wouldn't have room in the backyard. But yay! It fits! Tomorrow is the big day. The day my kids go to "daycare" for the first time in their lives. They are soooooooo excited. I have my fingers and toes crossed that Tucker doesn't potty in his pants!
