100th day of school

This week marks the 100th day of school for Shelby. She was given an assignment to make something with 100 items and bring it to school. Today was the day we were going to work on the project. I had a horrible migraine and Lonnie was at work. Mimi to the rescue! She took Shelby to Michaels and they picked out what she was going to make. Shelby counted out the 100 peel and stick gems and then placed them on the hat with only minimal help from Mimi with the hot glue gun on just a few gems. I think it turned out super cute!!!

Shelby's 6th birthday party!

Shelby's 6th Birthday Party

Today was Shelby's 6th birthday party at Jump N Jungle. I sorta though she had outgrown this place since we had her 3rd bday party here too, but the kids had a blast.....including the tweens that came. LOL We were in the largest jump room this time. I think in the end we ended up with about 30 kids. Either next year we are going to have to narrow down the guest list or find a bigger venue. The jump room had plenty of room, but the party room was a wee bit packed when you include all the parents. Hopefully within the next day or so I'll have a shutterfly album up of all the photos.

Shelby's Guitar

For Shelby's bday, Mimi made Shelby a rainbow cake at her request and let her pick out what she wanted for her bday. She chose a pink and silver guitar.

Tucker and make up

Lonnie is going to kill me once he sees that I posted this, but I have to. I thought it was too funny. Tucker got into one of Shelby's make up kits. He was so proud and told me he was "pretty like Halle now". LOL Halle being one of Shelby's friends.

marble tower

This is such a fun toy that all kids should have. We had a small version from Target's dollar bin for a while and then found that toysrus had a big one in the imaginarium brand. Tucker LOVES it. He can entertain himself 1/2 the day with it.

Sleep mask

Know any 6 y/o's that sleep in a sleep mask?

A new spring dress for Shelby!

I bought Shelby a few new spring dresses and this is one of them. Hard to believe it's 80 degrees in January.

Kerri update

Ok Kerri, don't shoot me for posting your pic on my blog, but I was so darn excited over this photo!!! Check it out everyone, Kerri is back at work!!!! Thank you all for your prayers for my dear friend Kerri when she was critically ill. She means the world to me!!

printing your blog

Hey fellow bloggers. Have you wanted to merge your blog into a book to save? I know for me, my blog is like my daily/weekly journal of our life happenings. This is where I document all the standard stuff you might journal in traditional baby books. Anyway, I found this cool site that does it. http://blog2print.sharedbook.com/blogworld/printmyblog/index.html  I uploaded all of my stuff by 2008 and then 2009 and was able to make 2 books. Now I'm cheap and went with the pdf version and paid $7.95 per year, but if I had gone with the standard book, it would have cost me nearly $70 each b/c I had so many posts. But now I have them in pdf and I can save to a cd forever and at some point I'll print these all out and make my own book at a far cheaper price. :-)

Moody Gardens Aquarium

Today the kids were out of school and I had the federal holiday off so we invited mom and headed to the moody gardens and went to the aquarium. It was a toss up between that and the Houston zoo. But since it's MLK day, the zoo was free so I knew it would be packed. So we opted for the aquarium in Galveston instead. It was nice b/c hardly anyone was there. After the aquarium we went to lunch at the rainforest. It was a nice afternoon with mimi.

haiti

I'm not sure how many of you are interested in hearing some front line stories of the haiti earthquake, but I have a few blogs that I follow of some people who do missionary work down there if you are interested. It's a huge eye opener. I encourage you to read, pray, and donate.

The Recess Queen

Well - now when recess rolls around
that plaground's one great place.
At the school bell's ringity-ring
those two girls race zingity-zing
out the classroom door.

Jean doesn't push kids and smoosh kids,
lollapaloosh kids,
hammer 'em, slammer 'em-
'cause she's having too much fun
rompity-romping with
her FRIENDS.

This is the book Shelby brought home last night for her nightly reading assignment. After a very long tiring day and having her read to us, this was like a tongue twister and a wee bit too hard in my opinion. At least now she's getting to more challenging books where she actually needs help. Hard to believe she's now reading on a 3rd grade level!

Baby Jesse

Today I got to hold my adorable nephew Jesse for the first time. Of course I was so excited when he made 3 smiling smurks while he was tooting and Bobbie said that's the first time he's grinned like that. While I was there, one of the doctors/nurses (can't tell them apart) told Bobbie that Jesse has graduated to level 2 NICU so tomorrow they will be moving him to a new wing. He's doing so well and eating 2 oz at a time. He's got some fluid on his lungs which he developed while on the respirator, but it's getting better. I'm hoping that he'll get to come home by this weekend. Tomorrow is a big day and I ask for y'all to keep him in your prayers. They will be doing an MRI of his brain to see if there's any sort of brain damage. I'm not sure how long it will take to know the results.

good news updates

My nephew Jesse was born on New Years Day with some severe unexpected complications. He's still in the NICU but no longer on life support and he's breathing on his own! He's got a few more goals to accomplish, but I have no doubt that he'll be able to do them and be home within the next few weeks. He's such a cutie and I absolutely cannot wait to hold him! I've been able to see him, but he's not quite holdable with all the wires and such.

Remember my dear friend Kerri? She celebrated her 34th birthday yesterday and she goes back to work today for the first time in nearly 3 months. I'm just amazed at her recovery and I am so proud of her. Happy Birthday Kerri!!!

100 monkeys concert = girls night out

Last night me and the girls went to the 100 monkeys concert. Jackson Rathbone is in 100 monkeys. Jackson Rathbone is Jasper in the Twilight series movies. We first heard them at Twicon. They aren't my style of music, but they are very talented guys. They switch off instruments throughout their performence. They make up songs on a whim. Most of the money they raise goes to the Spencer Bell Foundation charity.

It was a fun evening. Always fun to people watch when there's twilight fanatics around. Had some expensive bad drinks. Mingled with a few ladies we met at Twicon. Took loads of photos. Had a great girls night out.

This is Jackson Rathbone who plays Jasper in the Twilight series.
